Brave new world and YOU are there
Thinking it through,
>
They never stop and they seldom learn. Who? Teenagers? Vampires? Elvis impersonators? No, no and no; war mongers.
>
They love the idea of standing tough and killing someone. If you don't agree with them they may kill you. They proceed irrespective of history, the facts and the will of the people. Their ultimate goal? To save the America that they love. Save it for what, I ask?
>
What qualities do they see as worth preserving in their "Brave new world"? They must have a vision mustn't they? Perhaps they see everyone living independently in their fortresses with guns and emergency generators, home schooling their kids and growing their portfolios. They have their own filtration systems and chemical toilets because the infrastructure is at the point of collapse due to the abolition of any tax that isn't geared towards national defense, even if it means domestic national defense.
> >
They rarely leave their houses because poverty and crime are rampant. When they do, they thank God that the free market has worked and through demand has produced Personal Armored Vehicles (PAVs). Unfortunately they weight 5 tons and run on fossil fuel but that's ok because, finally, we can drop our pretenses and declare war for oil.
>
They understand the new paradigm and embrace it. To be like them you must invest in the ever growing war economy or you can take on a little more risk and become a mercenary, it pays well and there's no end in sight for the right person.
>
The latest development is to "go native" and set up their own fiefdom. Of course, that's not a cheap proposition, having a mercenary army and all. Personal mercenary armies are one thing that are still well regulated by the government but, since "nuevo war lords" are major tax payers they are given much latitude, i.e., they may exploit theirr serfs and wage territorial wars for land or resources but may not challenge the authority of their local governing body.
>
Ironically, a cult of worship has grown up around the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The government has promised to restore them as soon as it's convenient and many await their protections and promises. But, they are usually the lower classes and the lower classes have always needed some dream of hope. The ones in charge grant them this little indulgence as long as they keep working and, really, what choice do they have?
>
So everything has worked out just the way it was supposed too. Armadas roll down the streets with machine gun turrets in check, everything is privatized and the poor can't afford anything except the most basic food. clothing and housing. Disease is dealt with swiftly by the ruling junta; the sick are rounded up and placed in colonies. No one knows where or ever sees them again.
>
The news is always about the weather or the new sport of "Execution". Mock executions are performed on the disloyal and the public is encouraged to humiliate the accused. There have been some deaths but then again...we live in desperate times, don't we? Gene
