My email to Lynn Cullen, local, liberal radio talk show host
Whenever the subject of a protest march comes up, we, the listeners, are harangued about your personal peccadilloes: your personal dislike of Cindy Sheehan, the protester's language and or behavior, Ramsey Clark and whatever it is you have against him, yet, on an almost daily basis, you decry this war and Bush's policies.
The simple fact is that you consider yourself too good to get down and dirty with the riff raff at a protest and so you bemoan their tactics, their choice of speakers and use whatever limited knowledge you possess of the events to justify your non-attendance.

Lynn,
I was yelling at my car radio the other day (I don't have a cell phone) so decided to E-mail you instead. You were talking to a man who had called in defense of a previous (crazy) caller who had stated it wasn't "normal" for children to grow up with same-sex parents.
You blamed her "reasoning" on irrational fear & bigotry, but the one, most crucial source you neglected to mention, the true source of this irrational fear & bigotry, was RELIGION!
It doesn't matter how you interpret the Bible as condemning or not condemning homosexuality, the Bible is a RELIGIOUS book, and our constitution is supposed to prevent religious groups from imposing their rules on those of us who do not subscribe to their beliefs.
I so wish that someone in Congress would draft an amendment that would give the right to all adults to form civil (civil does not imply religious) unions & to adopt and/or raise children. They should give it a positive sounding name (like "Defensive of Family Freedom".)
I don't even have a problem with polygamy as long as it involves consenting adults (not child brides.)
Abuse of children can occur in any family structure. As you said, same-sex couples usually make the most loving of parents.
I am a happily married heterosexual, and neither I nor my husband feel in any way threatened by same-sex unions. We DO feel threatened by the countless religious groups who seek to impose their beliefs & morality on the rest of us.
(Please do not use my name on air.)
